 Person of the Week

Faraz Khalid

Faraz Khalid, a Fulbright Scholar at Tulane University, was instrumental in the opening of  The Interfaith Prayer Room.
When Khalid first arrived at Tulane, he couldn’t find a suitable place to pray. He prayed in his room and, hesitantly, in his office. Khalid decided to write to the School’s Office of Student Services to ask about a prayer room. Soon, a student lounge became available for prayer a few hours each day. As word spread about this new lounge, more and more international students began using it. Although the lounge was a great start, it didn’t fully serve their needs, so Khalid and other students and faculty met again to discuss a full-time prayer room. Thanks to Khalid and the other students and staff who worked on this project, Tulane now has a full-time prayer room in Tidewater Room 1506. Kudos to you!
