Health & Wellness Coffee Hour

Don't let the stress of finals get to you! Join students & scholars for our last and final Coffee Hour of the semester with The Well! We will go over some techniques to relax and have a stress-free finals period before the end of the semester. As always, coffee and snacks will be provided.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

OPT is a benefit available to all students who have been in F-1 status for at least one academic year. OPT allows you to work in your field of study for up to 12 months (24 months for certain STEM fields). Access to OPT instructions and forms are HERE.

You may submit your complete OPT application packet at OISS each week at any of the following drop-in times: Monday 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Monday 3:30pm - 4:30 pm or Wednesday 8:30am-9:30am

Chi Alpha's International Night: Kenya!

Paying for the Party -- How College Maintains Inequality 

Wednesday, April 13th, 6:00pm, Freeman Auditorium in Woldenberg Art Center 

Sociologists consider the forces at play while students are in college and what implications choices, some made by them and some made for them, have on a group of female students from different classes and how those impact student's ability to reproduce or overcome class inequality. 

 

Academic Recharge Program

Academic Recharge Program at the Tulane Success Center provides assistance for students who experience difficulties at the semester midpoint and beyond. Staff members will assist students to develop a personal plan for academic success through intensive coaching, guidance of Tulane support services, and suggestions to improve in the areas of academic weakness.

Full time UNDERGRADUATE students in Newcomb Tulane College can receive assistance with: Study strategies, Test taking/Test anxiety, time management, organization/planning, motivation & stress management, and more.

Non-Credit English Classes for International Students

This Spring, CGE is offering non-credit and flexible American Academic English classes that offer opportunities for developing and practicing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with other students in a relaxed conversational atmosphere. By participating, you will also be given preferential access to one-on-one conversation partners, individualized writing instruction, and other specialized programs, such as intensive night classes and grammar classes.

"Shakespeare & Gender" - The First Folio! Exhibition

Monday, May 9 - Tuesday May 31, Newcomb Archives, Caroline Richardson Building

The First Folio was assembled after Shakespeare's death in 1616 and was published in 1623. The First Folio is the only source for eighteen of Shakespeare's plays, among these some of his best known and most popular, including Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, and As You Like It. Hers, Theirs, Ours Performance

Friday, April 15-17, 8:00pm in Kendall Cram, LBC

Formerly known as The Vagina Monologues, Her, Theirs, Ours is Tulane's fully original production combating gender-based violence as women & non-binary folks. Please come support our cast & crew of over 120 students discussing topics such as sexual violence/assault, mental health, eating disorders, racial identity, and more. Newcomb-Tulane College Grant Opportunity

All full time undergraduates are invited to take advantage of the wide range of funding available for their academic projects, travel, and more. Grant applications are reviewed on a monthly cycle, and the remaining deadlines to apply for grant money this semester are April 29 for the Putnam Grand and April 15 for all other Newcomb-Tulane College grants. PORceiros: Portuguese /English Language Practice

Ola, todos! We are continuing our PORceiros program for students and community members who want to practice English or Portuguese. We will pair native speakers of Portuguese and English that want to practice each other's language in an informal setting. The difference an hour a week will make in your language proficiency and confidence is amazing!

Crawfest at Tulane!

Saturday, April 16 11:00am, Rain or Shine, Tulane's  Uptown Campus

Crawfest is an annual food and arts festival where community members and students enjoy music from local bands, 20,000+ pounds of crawfish, thousands of pounds of veggies, and dozens of local food and art vendors across the LBC and Newcomb Quads.

For general information, check-in, document drop off/pick up, and letter requests, come visit us. If you would like to meet with an advisor, please schedule an appointment.

DOWNTOWN HOURS

Location: Tidewater Building Room 2460

Time: Tuesdays, 1:00-4:00pm

Downtown hours are an opportunity for international students, scholars, and staff at Tulane's downtown campus to meet with an OISS advisor, ask questions, and request services. If you are a new international student at the downtown campus, you can also complete your required check-in process during these hours.

COFFEE HOURS

Location: Greenbaum Lounge (Bldg #71, Uptown)

Time: Thursdays, 3-5:00pm

Uptown coffee hours will be held weekly, with a different theme each week!

PRAYER SPACE (DOWNTOWN)

Location: Tidewater Rm 1506

Time: Open whenever building is open
