Last Downtown Hours of the Fall Semester
Downtown hours are an opportunity for international students, scholars, and staff at Tulane's downtown campus to meet with an OISS advisor, ask questions, and request services. If you are a new int'l student at the downtown campus, you can also complete your required check-in process during these hours. GOOD LUCK ON FINALS! During finals week, many students feel stressed out and overwhelmed. However, there is campus programming happening every day that will help you when you might be feeling down. As you prepare for finals, we recognize the importance of creating opportunities for you to recharge. Study breaks are informal gatherings organized to give you an escape from the books. The WELL Health Center: Finals Hours Weekdays 8:30am-5pm & Weekends 9am-1pm As you enter your final exams, resources at Campus Health are available to help you stay well. YELLBC this Sunday! Sunday, December 11th from 6:00-7:30pm in the Qatar Ballroom, LBC (Bldg. 29) Join the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) for YELLBC, an exhilarating and liberating communal cathartic scream, to let out stress before finals! YELLBC will feature free food, an ice cream bar, resources to reduce stress, and a countdown to the scream on the LBC balcony. Additional event partners include CAPS, Howard Tilton Memorial Library, the Lavin Bernick Center for University Life, NAMI, and more! International Student Dinner & English Conversation Groups Thursday nights at 6:00pm in the BCM House (7111 Freret St) The BCM House at Tulane is sponsoring a weekly International Student Dinner & English Conversation Groups event! This is a great opportunity to practice your conversational English skills with some American students while eating a delicious home-cooked meal. CAPS - Dissertation Progress Groups 
The Dissertation Progress Groups will help students explore how they might overcome personal barriers while engaging with their project. They will be discussing common dilemmas facing graduate students trying to move forward with their work, and assist in identifying strategies for taking the edge off the strain. *Click on the flyer for more details. Dialogues on Difference 2016 The Community Engagement Advocates are offering a series of free workshops open to the Tulane community about issues of power, privilege and identity. This Fall, the monthly workshop topics will be “Race + Racism”, “Classism + Inequality”, and “Gender + Sexuality”. These 90 minute sessions are designed to create space for members of the Tulane community to learn, share and explore these topics together through dialogue and interactive activities. Space is limited to 25 participants per session and participants are strongly encouraged to RSVP on Orgsync to ensure a spot. CACTUS Academy: A Social Justice Leadership Development Program Program dates: January - March 2017 CACTUS Academy is designed for first-year Tulane undergraduate students and first-year transfer students who have an interest in learning more about CACTUS and a desire to develop skills and knowledge that will prepare them to become actively involved in social justice work and community engagement. CACTUS Academy provides introductory training on a broad spectrum of issues in the social justice arena such as gender, sexuality, race, social services, legal rights, and community organizing, among others. Apply here > Gender and Archives Diversity Research Fellowships Apply by January 23, 2017 The Newcomb Archives and Vorhoff Library Special Collections of the Newcomb College Institute is pleased to invite applications for our 2017 Gender and Archives Diversity Research Fellowships. These fellowships for research into the history of Newcomb College and Tulane University are open to any current Tulane University undergraduate or graduate student and are intended to support the discovery of untold stories of our community. Applicants will specify their own area of research interest that investigates individuals or campus communities that have been historically underrepresented in the history of the University, with an intersectional focus on gender. Fellowships come with a stipend of either $250 or $500. Learn more here > 
Become an OTL As the first tier of student leadership within the orientation staff, 10 Orientation Team Leaders (OTLs) are involved in facilitating New Student Orientation in May and June and specific Fall Welcome events in August. The OTLs also select, train, and supervise the Fall Welcome Orientation Coordinators (OCs). This position is compensated with a combination of free housing from mid-May through June and a stipend. Starting on September 20th WFMO’s international tax office is going to have a representative available every other Tuesday.
