Winter Break and Travel RemindersWinter Break Closure and Travel Signatures Tulane University and the OISS will be closed starting on December 25th - January 1st. Operations will resume on January 2nd. If you are going to travel outside the U.S. during winter break, you should check your I‐20 or DS‐2019 now to see whether you need a travel signature. If you do, please come to the OISS and request your travel signature as soon as possible. NO SAME DAY REQUESTS WILL BE PROCESSED. Thanks for your interest in helping to support new international students! International Student Advisory Board: TUPals The International Student Advisory Board, an initiative of the Office of International Students and Scholars, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the Spring 2018 TUPals Program. The primary mission of TUPals is to help new international students connect with their peers, upper class mentors, and ultimately, the institution as a whole in order to ease their transition to Tulane so that they may succeed personally, socially, and academically. TUPals also provides a great opportunity to current Tulane students (both U.S. Americans and internationals) to develop leadership skills and to interact with new international students and learn about other cultures. Volunteer/Other OpportunitiesLouisiana Osteoporosis Study
Tulane University's Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics is conducting a research project on osteoporosis. If you are eligible to participate, you would receive at no cost a Bone Health Assessment, which includes a bone density test. Compensation for your time and travel is provided for the one-time, 2-hour visit. We will also validate your parking if needed. 
Catholic Charities: Volunteering Opportunities with Refugee Service Catholic Charities with the Archdiocese of New Orleans is having volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
Currently they have a high need of Rohingya, Somali, Dari, Pashto, Farsi, and Fulani speakers. We are kicking off Project IX: a
student-centered design project to tackle sexual violence on campus. We had our first session, an open-call to students, on November 1st where we started to more deeply understand your needs, desires, fears, and frustrations. We began to envision what a campus free of sexual violence, harassment, and sexism could look like.

Check out the 4th iteration: The Lotus In Spite of The Swamp, which celebrates New Orleans' unique cultural landscape as a creative force! 
The Blue Library 3
Check out the third iteration of the Blue Library, a photographic answer to the first US travel ban. The project's intention is to show the similarities of daily life in these affected countries alongside the lives of average American, while also embracing the unique cultural differences. Downtown hours are an opportunity for international students, scholars, and staff at Tulane's downtown campus to meet with an OISS advisor, ask questions, and request services.
