OISS/CGE News and EventsOISS Fall Orientation Leaders (Apply Now!) 
International Student Orientation Leaders will assist the OISS staff with the Fall 2018 orientation for new international F-1 and J-1 students. Orientation leaders will work in a variety of capacities throughout the week to ensure that students become familiar with Tulane and to facilitate their adjustment to the campus community. This year’s celebration will be a different than years past; some of the participants from the International Food and Music Festival (which was cancelled due to inclement weather) will join this event. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), together with the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) and the Undocumented Student Support Committee (USSC), is proud to have launched the International/Undocumented Student Emergency Fund Campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to support students with severe financial hardships in order to ensure that they are able to remain at Tulane and graduate. TU Legal Assistance Program: Immigration 
Working under the direct supervision of an attorney, law students at TULAP’s Immigration Consultation program will provide bimonthly legal assistance sessions and provide a free initial consultation to individuals seeking immigration advice. Consultations are confidential as mandated by lawyers’ professional code. All Tulane staff, faculty and students seeking immigration advice are welcome to make an appointment with TULAP here. If you are in F, J, H or TN status, please note that the Office of International Students and Scholars is your primary point of contact for questions related to your current status. Project IX: Design To Combat Sexual Assault 
In this 9 week (1 credit) seminar, students will work on multi-disciplinary teams to research, design, and prototype real solutions to be implemented on campus to combat sexual assault. At the end of the semester, students will present solutions to the administration for funding and implementation in Fall 2018. We will meet weekly between February 19th and April 30th on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8pm. Tours of Truth Students Organizing Against Racism is giving tours around Tulane's campus as we speak on the history of Tulane in the contexts of institutional racism and resistance against it. We shall explore where Tulane's foundations were based on in conversation to the climate then and how Tulane has changed since then to today's climate. Tour dates:

Festival International de Louisiane 
Celebrate 32 years of Festival International de Louisiane, a non-profit organization that produces the largest international music and arts festival in the United States with a special emphasis on the connection between Acadiana and the Francophone world and an estimated economic impact of 49 million annually. With over 300,000 festival goers every year, the annual festival features musical performances by artists from over 20 countries along with workshops, exhibits, visual art, theater and other forms of performance arts. Thousands of music lovers head to the Fairgrounds for this two-weekend festival, considered one of the city’s most world-renowned events. Tons of music spans several stages bringing big local and international names across different genres. Some of this year’s headliners include Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Jimmy Buffet, Beck, Jack White and Lionel Richie. Let’s also not forget to mention all the incredible food vendors that will fill the Fairgrounds like the sought after Crawfish Monica, Mango Freeze and cochon de lait po-boys. This exhibition features the work of Puerto Rican artist Carlos Rolón which explores the rich connections between New Orleans, Latin America and the Caribbean, from their shared tropical landscape to the intricate wrought iron fences that define the architecture of both places. A featured installation is Rolón's Nomadic Habitat (Hustleman), inspired, in part, by the prevalence of street vendors throughout New Orleans and the Caribbean. As part of the exhibition, NOMA is partnering with Embajada, a contemporary art organization located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to helpoffer direct assistance to local artists, cultural workers and their communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. In commemoration of the New Orleans Tricentennial in 2018, The Historic New Orleans Collection will provide a multifaceted exploration of the city’s first few decades and its earliest inhabitants with New Orleans, the Founding Era, an original exhibition and bilingual companion catalog. Tulane University's Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics is conducting a
research project on osteoporosis. If you are eligible to participate, you would receive at no cost a Bone Health Assessment, which includes a bone density test.
